Spock is Dead

Probably the greatest chess player that wasn't.
Live Long and Prosper
Wasn't he playing 3-level chess in one of the original episodes w Nurse Chapel.... She was down to nothing but her lipstick...
And Spock was wearing his "Genesis" footsie PJs...

"Two Weeks Notice" ...? Let's start a Chess on Film thing if it gets too quiet... _____

All I could think of was the above; a James Bond film; and the classic.... KNIGHT MOVES
this is a sad day for trekkies like myself :(

I hope he rests in peace
Thanks Chunky! Whoa... I didn't have the news on ... LIVE LONG...
"I have been -- and will always be -- your friend" (from memory)
This is a very sad day for me. The character Spock made such a big impression on me growing up. I believe it was the fact that my hero's role was as the ship's science officer and because of his intellect and his logic, that at least in part fostered in me an interest in learning and science and yes, even chess. And I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. Leonard Nimoy's outstanding work in the series was a pleasure and an inspiration to millions of geeks across the world and he will be dearly missed.
This is highly illogical.... but I believe I detect a fluid emission in my nasolacrimal duct.
Thank you my friend, LLAP. \V/_

___ Fundamental to the serious side of Star Trek was the notion that besides a physical universe to be explored, there is a universe of possible courses an individual/ culture/ humanity can chart...

Great trivia question: What was the last DIALOGUE line of Star Trek's last episode??? "Her life could have been as rich as any woman's if only, if only" ... So in Episode 79 6/3/1969 the 'sci-fi' series closes with more (?!) low budget acting & special effects... AND YET ... it's the story of a capable & driven woman whose advancement was limited by her gender...
