Preslav's 2+5 & 3+2 Tournaments

Hello everyone! I am writing this forum post because I have been considering something for some time and finally decided to share it with you. It just came at the right time when Flo (@ChangeOpening) announced that the IAF is looking for more sponsors. I discussed everything with him first, he understood me and decided to give it a try.

As you probably already know, it is related to the fact that we need more tournaments on Sundays. Since I like blitz much more than bullet, the tournaments I am planning on organising will be with 2+5 and 3+2 time control. The 2+5 one will last for 3 hours (because playing a single game usually takes longer) and the 3+2 one will last for 2 hours. I might try to organise two tournaments simultaneously (one of them above 2100 rating and the other one under 2200 rating) but I'd like to find out whether there will be interest in those, so please make sure to write your opinion in the comment's section.

Notes:
- in the under 2200 tournament, there might be one prize for the best placed under 2000 player initially worth $10 (it may become more if there is interest). I will elaborate why it will be so little at first.
- I will regularly check for sandbaggers who intend to deliberately decrease their rating in order to play in the under 2200 tournament.
- the games will be checked for cheating before sending the prize to the winner.

Initially, there will be one prize only - for the winner, of course. The prize will be determined based on tournament points. The winner will guarantee first $10 when they reach 20 tournament points. From then on, every next 10 points will be worth $5 - (30 tournament points will be worth $15, 40 points - $20, etc). I believe that when we have such a format, everyone will aim to win every game. :) I'd like to point out that we will play without berserk.

Regarding the under 2200 tournament, the rules are the same. The reason why the best placed under 2000 player will get only $10 (hopefully more at a later extent) is because if we happen to witness a very inconsistent winner (having only 0's & 2's due to their inability to achieve more than 2 consecutive wins and fail to reach more than 30 tournament points at the end), the sub-2000 player will get a prize worth AS MUCH AS the winner's one. Of course, that's a bit unlikely to happen but not impossible. :)

Since I'd like to have more responses, the first edition will take place next Sunday (26th of May). Please write when your most preferred time to hold the tournament is. I'd prefer to have as many players as possible (at least 30 in the above 2100 tournament and at least 50 in the under 2200 one).

That's all for now, guys! Please make sure to provide your feedback and let me know if there is something unclear! This is my first own forum post ever, so I am not certain if I wrote it perfectly but I tried my best. :)
Well done @neverplayfastanti
everything is very clear
we are waiting for the tournament link to join and promote it
the time of the tournament with the most people on the site is 15.30 UTC
Thank you NPFA Preslav :) - my preferred time for under 2200 is:

18 UTC , evening.
Great initiative @neverplayfastanti , thanks for sponsoring preslav.
My preferred time for the tournaments would be 14 : 00 UTC

Also I have doubt, so my rating now is 2112, if it's reduced below 2100 on the upcoming days, would I able to participate or not ?

Thank you for your feedback @SIDDIQ1911 :)
If you join now, you will be able to participate :)
If you don't join now, you need to have at least 2100 in the day of the tournament, so you can join then :)
Hi Preslav,

Thank you so much for this idea. I firmly believe that having some blitz tournaments with increment is a good way to enjoy antichess's beautiful endgames better. I will participate in these whenever I can. I am just wondering about the frequency of 2+5 and 3+2. Will you organize one of each weekly, or will they each be organized once every two weeks?

Additionally, I think there might be an issue with the over 2100 tournaments. Many players rated between 2100 and 2200 (like me) will be incentivized to participate in the under 2100 tournament as they have a much higher chance of winning a prize. I just checked the rankings and there are only 75 players rated above 2200. It might be a little bit difficult to have 30 active players in the over 2100 tournament. What do you think?

My preferred time would be any time from 12pm GMT to 7pm GMT

Thanks again for organizing this, it will be an awesome opportunity to have many games against top players !!

Thank you very much for your feedback @DrunkPolo :)

Yes, that's the main idea behind the tournament - all players should enjoy the beautiful game of antichess and strive to play high quality games :)

I have planned to organise one of each every Sunday when there is no @bwmtone tournament :) but I don't promise that I will be able to do it every week.

Yes, you are very right about the issue. I will keep thinking how we can improve the tournaments together if they have the luck to turn into many editions :) but for now let's keep it like that and see how it goes :)

Before I wrote the post, I thought there were no more than 50 players above 2200. But then I checked and saw that they are more than 70, that's why I wrote 30 but it's just a number :) the tournament(s) will be held regardless. :)
Hi neverplayfastanti! It's a great idea to have tournaments with such time control. Personally, I like playing slow antichess much more. I will definitely participate in such tournaments if I qualify according to the formal parameters. :)
