Hey, anyone play grand chess?
Yes, grand chess and shako are two of my favourite chess variants at www.pychess.org.
Musketeer chess, metamachy and wildebeest chess will also be interesting if they are added to www.pychess.org and right now only Musketeer chess is under development, using 10 musketeer chess fairy chess pieces to choose 2 from during one single game instead of Seirawan chess using Chancellor and Archbishop every game. musketeer-chess.herokuapp.com/
You can challenge me to games of grand chess or shako in www.pychess.org.
Or we can do grand chess or shako tournament next in www.pychess.org.
Just inform me about the timing.
They are big chess boards with longer duration of one single played game, so make sure the tournament duration is at least 1 hour or more.

Gorogoro Shogi tournament is happening today. I am not yet comfortable with any of the Shogi variants and also I am not yet comfortable with recently released Shinobi chess. Not even at the newbie level.
Anyway, I am busy today. Let me see if I can participate in some fairy piece variant chess tournament tomorrow or during the upcoming week.
Actually, how will an alert be received if a tournament in www.pychess.org is about to start? Only by www.lichess.org private message? Can an alert also be set up by e-mail? Can a mobile phone notification arrive with sound if www.lichess.org mobile app is installed in my mobile phone?
How long before starting a tournament will an alert arrive? Only 1 hour before? Or can it be extended even further, for example 24 hours or at least 12 hours? Or if it must be 1 hour only, can tournaments be scheduled only during a fixed time on any given day, for example 2:00 PM UTC, so that it will be easier for everyone to check at that time without missing out any? This time should be cleverly chosen such that everyone or most people whoever would be interested to participate in the tournament would be freely available to play readily enough or at least awake.

Seems Musketeer chess will not happen according to github.com/ianfab/Fairy-Stockfish/pull/322
metamachy is 12x12 so it is blocked by github.com/ianfab/Fairy-Stockfish/issues/38
wildebeest needs github.com/ianfab/Fairy-Stockfish/issues/305
#4 tournament feature is rather new in pychess and we have no scheduled tournaments implemented yet.
I usually will send notifications 60 mins before start and try to create them around the same time.

I think that we should either do Trice's crazyhouse or Capahouse 960.
I think that in www.pychess.org, the default starting positions for Capablanca chess and Capahouse should be replaced along with their names by Trice's chess and Trice's crazyhouse.
In starting positions of Capablanca chess and Capahouse, there are weak unprotected pawns on the kingside on which the enemy pieces of queen, archbishop and bishop attack from their starting positions, which always lead to a forced win for the white player.
Also, it is impossible to fianchetto a bishop on a different file from the first move development of a knight towards the centre.

No. We discussed this several times on discord.gg/aPs8RKr #large-board-variants channel.
@ramanvis1988 a while ago it was shown that the Capablanca is fairly unbalanced in favour of white. However gbtami (creator of pychess) believes it to be the best, so it will stay the default.
